Job summary

Sunstall Inc. is seeking an Insulation Craftsman/MetalMan for our chemical plant operations in Seadrift, TX. The role focuses on applying sheetmetal and cladding, cryogenic and hot-service insulation to piping, exchangers, furnaces, and vessels to control temperatures and noise.

You will read blueprints, measure and cut insulation, install around equipment, and ensure safety and documentation per OSHA and site requirements. Overtime and on-call adjustments may occur.

Qualifications

• Must read blueprints, sketches, or isometric drawings.
• Must be willing to assist other crafts while not actively working on an insulation project.
• Must meet all physical requirements.
• Must follow all safety rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to OSHA and site safety requirements for applying insulation and cladding.
• Participate in safety pre-job audits and tailgate meetings with the crew to review hazards and precautions.
• Complete and sign JSA’s, iPlan, iChat, iCard, SWP/TXO insulation checklists and other required documentation before starting tasks.
• Read blueprints and specifications to determine scope of work: locations, quantities, and material sizes.
• Measure, mark and cut insulation to specs using basic hand tools.
• Install insulation around obstructions and fit around equipment.
• Determine insulation materials and methods based on location and equipment use.
• Install sheetmetal/cladding to protect insulation from weather and damage.
• Apply, remove, and repair insulation on industrial equipment to control noise and temperatures.
• Fabricate sheetmetal/cladding to support field installation.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, peers, and subordinates.
• Maintain a clean work area and remove debris.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
• Understand cryogenic and hot-service insulation installation processes.

• NationalCenterforConstructionEducationandResearch's(NCCER)certificationforIndustrialJourneymanInsulator.
• Experienceworkingwithscaffolding,insulation,andpainting.
• Workingcloselywithandoverseeingonoccasionofhelperandlaborpositions.Thepositionwilloccasionallyholdapositionalandexpertiseauthorityofthehelperandlaborerpositions.
