White Sky Technologies LLC in Maryland seeks a System Engineer to join our growing team. You will develop, maintain and enhance complex and diverse systems as part of a collaborative engineering group delivering mission-critical solutions to U.S.

Government clients. The ideal candidate has 20+ years of engineering experience, a Bachelor’s in Computer Science (or related), TS/SCI with poly, and a proven ability to manage 24x7 operations, rotate 12-hour day/night shifts in Central time, and follow

Qualifications

• 20+ years of experience as an engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline; 4 years SWE experience may substitute.
• Security+ required or obtainable within six months.

Responsibilities

• Monitor system health, availability, performance, and data pipelines.
• Investigate alerts and incidents; perform authorized recovery actions; escalate unresolved issues.
• Maintain tickets, shift logs, SOPs, metrics, and reports; provide concise status updates and effective shift handoffs.

The positions require candidates to develop, maintain and enhance complex and diverse systems as part of a team of engineers.

Core Qualifications

• Linux and command-line proficiency
• Hardware, software, network, and data-flow troubleshooting
• Clear communication and documentation
• Ability to follow and maintain SOPs, prioritize incidents, and work independently in a 24×7 environment.

Tools And Platforms

• Jira, Confluence, Rancher, Elasticsearch, Redis, NiFi
• Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, virtualization
• Monitoring tools such as Nagios, Grafana, and Prometheus.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor system health, availability, performance, and data pipelines

Security+ required, or must be obtained within six months. This is a shift position with schedule rotating 12-hour day or night shifts on a two-week schedule in the Central time zone.

Shift Schedule

Days (2-week schedule)

• Sunday - Tuesday 12-hour shifts from 0500 - 1700L
• Off - Wednesday - Saturday
• Sunday - Wednesday 12 hours shifts from 0500 - 1700L
• Off - Thursday - Saturday

Mids (2-week schedule)

• Off - Sunday - Tuesday
• Wednesday - Friday 12-hour shifts 1700 - 0500L
• Off - Sunday - Tuesday
• Wednesday - Saturday 12-hour shifts 1700 - 0500L May be asked to provide future call-in support to back up team on a rotational basis.

Requirements 20+yrs of experience as an engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline; 4 years SWE experience may be substituted for Bachelor’s degree

TS/SCI w/ poly Clearance Required
