Position Summary

The SE Operator Lead provides on-shift leadership, training, and technical guidance to personnel within the Specialty Esters department.

This role serves as the primary shift lead during non-daylight and weekend hours, ensuring safe operations, environmental compliance, production performance, and effective communication across teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction to on-shift personnel
• Train and mentor future operators
• Ensure alignment with production schedules and process area metrics
• Conduct weekly Safety Dialog talks
• Guide non-daylight and weekend maintenance trades
• Ensure maintenance requests are properly entered into SAP

Safety & Environmental Compliance

• Maintain safe working conditions at all times
• Ensure environmental compliance during non-daylight and weekend hours, including:
• BOD source tracking and control
• Spill monitoring and response
• Odor complaint tracking and resolution
• Assist with permit writing for work performed in the department
• Serve as a member of the site Emergency Response Team (ERT)

Operational Oversight

• Communicate shift performance status (Production Reports and Production Notes)
• Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained
• Verify log sheets, inspections, and quality records are completed accurately
• Assist with inventory management for Buildings 7 and 66A/B
• Develop and maintain written procedures (PWIs, SOPs, LOTO documentation)

Minimum Qualifications

• Have successfully completed qualification requirements for an Operator IV position
• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
• Exhibit proven leadership capability and interpersonal effectiveness
• Be able to read and interpret P&IDs
• Demonstrate strong training and mentoring ability

Physical Requirements

• Maneuver a full 55-gallon drum using a dolly
• Lift 50-75 lb bags, drums, or filled pails
• Climb stairs and ladders repeatedly
• Walk, stand, and sit for extended periods
• Operate forklift or pallet jack
• Move and connect 3\" x 20' jumper hoses
• Work in outdoor temperatures during all seasons
