Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Technical Baseline Engineering Department Manager 3 to lead the T3 Department within the SDS Division at the Roy, UT facility. You will report to the SDS Systems Engineering Director and may receive relocation assistance.

The role requires building and guiding a multidisciplinary team across engineering disciplines to ensure program success. Responsibilities include setting objectives, managing planning and risk, and mentoring staff while coordinating

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in STEM with at least 8 years of related experience, or Master's with 6 years of experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance.
• Experience with configuration management tools; Team Center, SharePoint, MES, JIRA, SAP, Doors, and Cameo.
• Knowledge of the five pillars of configuration management (e.g., ASME Y14, MIL-HDBK-61, SAE GEIA-859, SAE EIA-649-1, GEIA-HB-649).

• Set operating objectives and mentor FHR Section Managers based on engineering goals and policy.
• Oversee multiple division portfolios (Launch, Command, Flight, ICBM Sustainment).
• Provide people, skills, and processes for program goals.
• Manage planning, risk, schedule, technical quality, and issue resolution.
• Assist engineers to develop and retain talent; engage with managers to ensure program health.
• Lead a team across multiple engineering disciplines (Configuration Analysts, Change Engineers, Technical Writers, Instructional Designers, graphic artists).

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is currently seeking a Technical Baseline Engineering Department Manager 3 to join our Engineering team within Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) Division at the Roy, UT facility.

The selected candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the Technical Baseline, Training, and Tech Data (T3) Department within the Systems Engineering organization and will report directly to the SDS Systems Engineering Director. This position may offer relocation assistance.

What you will get to do:

• Set operating objectives and provide mentorship to Functional Home Room (FHR) Section Managers (SMs) based on Engineering goals, objectives, and company policy
• Provide oversight and assistance to multiple business areas within the division portfolio (Launch Systems, Command Systems, Flight Systems, and ICBM Sustainment)
• Provide the people, skills, and processes for successful achievement of program goals
• Be responsible for managing planning, risk, project performance, schedule, technical quality, and addressing technical or operational problems when necessary
• Assist engineers and program staff to develop and maintain talent within the organization
• Have frequent contact with equivalent level managers and programs to maintain and exceed health and performance for all programs

As the T3 Department Manager, you will lead a team ranging across one or more of the following engineering disciplines: Configuration Analysts, Project Change Engineers, Technical Writers, Instructional design engineers, and graphic artists.

Essential Functions

• Excellent communication, mentoring, interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate with senior management, peers, and employees
• Provides ownership for the people, processes, and tools that support business areas and programs in achieving their missions
• Accountability for recruiting, staffing, and retaining talent to deliver on the objectives
• Supporting proposal work, independent technical reviews, program standup and audits, and special assignments on an as needed basis
• Owning and leading improvements across employee engagement, hiring, development, training, attraction, and retention of top talent
• Mentor, develop, and train your section managers, and overall employee base
• Review and analyze released engineering change data and coordinate changes with engineering, quality, support, manufacturing, and engineering data control activities

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This position may offer relocation assistance.

You’ll Bring these Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) with at least 8 years of related experience, or Master's and 6 years' of experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope ( - Experience with configuration management tools; Team Center, Sharepoint, MES, JIRA, SAP, Doors, and Cameo.
• Experience with Configuration Management fundamentals to include the 5-pillars of configuration management (ex: experience with any of these: ASME Y14, MIL-HDBK-61, SAE GEIA-859, SAE EIA-649-1, and GEIA-HB-649).

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

• Knowledge of technical manual specifications; MIL-STD-38784, MIL-STD-40051, MIL-STD-3008.
• Minimum of 3 years in a formal lead/management position
• Knowledge of training evaluations requirements such as Kirkpatrick 4-levels of evaluation or Phillips 5-levels of evaluation.
