Job summary

Amazon's Ring Quick Action Service (QAS) team seeks a Software Development Engineer to build and scale data‑driven observability solutions for Ring devices, apps, and cloud services.

You will own the software development lifecycle, drive real‑time search and analysis, and develop tools to manage large data clusters while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to meet business needs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• Experience in technical support, or experience operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets
• Experience designing, building, operating, and managing large‑scale distributed systems or web services
• Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development life cycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Experience in written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non‑technical audiences, including senior leadership
• Proficiency in modern programming languages (Python, TypeScript, Go, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Own the overall systems development life cycle for team services
• Guide the evolution of the team to offer real time search and analysis across RBKS organizations
• Develop tools to scale and manage large data clusters, automate onboarding of data, and develop self‑service interfaces
• Maintain and support new integrations for our LogSynth MCP solution, RAG knowledge base, and REST‑based API interfaces
• Liaison to service teams to understand existing data sets and evaluate emerging technologies in ML/AI
• Understand existing data streams and develop metrics to measure customer experience and proactive KPI monitoring
• Evaluate log analytic plugins and write custom plugins to add insight into service teams and customer metrics
• Define a strategy for software unit, functional and performance testing; lead code review sessions
• Implement optimal security practices while scaling data services
• Contribute to operational excellence practices and on‑call rotation
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align solutions with business needs
• Ensure best practices and cloud‑optimized solutions
