Job summary

Amazon Last Mile Technology (LMT) is seeking software engineers to design and scale critical delivery systems that power Amazon’s logistics network. You will contribute across design, development, testing, and operations while collaborating with central operations and peer teams to deliver high-impact software.

Ideal candidates have strong problem-solving skills, customer focus, and a track record of building reliable, distributed systems in fast-paced environments.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

  • The team will be focused on designing and implementing solutions to help Last Mile operations team to scale and operate efficiently in the increasingly complex delivery network.

Key job responsibilities

The team will be focused on designing and implementing solutions to help Last Mile operations team to scale and operate efficiently in the increasingly complex delivery network. We are looking for creative software engineers who thrive on complex problems, have a knack for problem solving and relish the challenge of operating complex mission critical Last Mile delivery systems to create world-class customer experiences.

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to all parts of the software development and deployment lifecycle, including design, development, documentation, testing and operations. They will learn about Amazon’s logistics network, interact with central operations and peer engineering teams to build optimized systems, and have the autonomy to deliver software that has a broad impact. They must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-driven, and deliver high quality results in a fast-paced environment. They should thrive by working closely with their peers in a group of smart and talented engineers. It is still Day 1 in the Last Mile Technology space!

A commitment to teamwork, hustle, and strong communication skills (to both business and technical partners) are absolute requirements. Creating a reliable, scalable, and high-performance service requires exceptional technical expertise, a sound understanding of the fundamentals of Computer Science, and practical experience building large-scale distributed systems.

You should enjoy working on complex system software, is customer-centric, and feels strongly about building good software as well as making that software achieve its operational goals.

A day in the life

The bulk of an average day is centered around designing and building features to create or enhance existing applications.

  • Working on ad-hoc requests and bug fixes
  • Participating in doc reviews with product managers and stakeholders
  • Supporting and delegating tickets while on-call
  • Team meetings and presentations/learning sessions

Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
