Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Software Development Engineer II for the Sub-Same-Day team to own high-scale, low-latency services that compute and optimize the fastest reliable delivery promises for orders.

You will design, build, and operate scalable systems, lead end-to-end features, and mentor junior engineers while impacting delivery speed and customer trust across multiple marketplaces.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed software.
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate scalable, low-latency, highly available services that power SSD delivery promises.
• Own features end-to-end — requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing operations.
• Lead design discussions and drive alignment with partner teams.
• Uphold operational excellence: monitoring, alarming, on-call, and reducing defects and tickets.
• Dive deep on edge cases, testing, and safe production rollouts (canary deployments, metrics, dashboards).
• Identify and mitigate risks; communicate progress, blockers, and tradeoffs clearly.
• Mentor SDE-1s and junior engineers; review code and designs, unblock them, raise the technical bar.
• Contribute to the team's technical roadmap and continuous improvement of our systems.
