Job summary

Amazon GuardDuty is seeking talented Software Development Engineers to join a team in our Los Angeles area. You will design, build, and operate highly available, scalable distributed systems powering GuardDuty’s Malware Protection and Runtime Monitoring products, protecting millions of AWS customers.

You will collaborate with security engineers, applied scientists, and product managers to deliver impactful features, mentor teammates, and participate in on‑call rotations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non‑internship software development experience.
• 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture experience for large systems.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
• 1+ years of designing and developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered, multi‑threaded, distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C++, Java, or Python.
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain highly available, scalable distributed systems for GuardDuty's Malware Protection and Runtime Monitoring services.
• Own and evolve the runtime agent provisioning and agent coverage platform across AWS compute services.
• Own features end‑to‑end across the full software development lifecycle—from design through deployment and operations.
• Write high‑quality, testable code and participate in design and code reviews with AI tooling to improve velocity and consistency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues with root cause analysis and runbooks.
