Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Software Development Engineer for the Alexa Shopping - Core team in Seattle, WA. You will design and ship customer-facing features across retail tech stacks and conversational interfaces, while advancing GenAI capabilities and prompt tuning to power shopping experiences through Alexa.

You will own services from design to production, write clean code, and collaborate with product managers and scientists to deliver impactful features.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) experience.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Responsibilities

• Design and build end-to-end features that bring retail shopping experiences to Alexa, working across retail tech stacks, Alexa services, and LLM-powered conversational interfaces
• Develop and iterate on GenAI and agentic AI capabilities, including prompt engineering and tuning for customer-facing shopping experiences
• Own your services from design through production, writing clean, maintainable code and driving engineering best practices through code reviews
• Collaborate with product managers, applied scientists, and partner teams to define, build, and ship customer-facing features
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, participate in on-call rotations, and continuously improve operational health through automation and monitoring
• Experiment and move fast, balancing speed of delivery with long-term system quality
