Job summary

Amazon’s Elastic Container Service (ECS) team is seeking a Software Development Engineer to design, implement, and operate scalable container orchestration. You will work on ECS and Fargate, applying distributed-systems expertise to deliver reliable cloud services.

Strong Linux knowledge and data-driven decision making are essential. Expect on-call responsibilities, cross-team collaboration, and opportunities to influence architecture and technology direction across a high-impact AWS service.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related experience.
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale distributed software applications using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Responsibilities

• Create a first-class experience for our customers by keeping their needs at the center of your work.
• Solve difficult problems with elegant and practical code.
• Design, build, deploy, and own scalable and robust systems from requirements to delivery.
• Help operate a public AWS service, including on-call and improving operational health.
• Use data to guide decisions and validate assumptions.
• Contribute to architecture and technology choices for features, and grow into a broader technical voice over time.
• Develop project plans and commitments, and deliver consistently against them.
