Job summary

Penn State University’s Applied Research Laboratory in State College, PA seeks an SD-WAN Solutions Development Engineer to design and implement cutting-edge SD-WAN solutions for national security networks.

You will prototype emerging SD-WAN technologies, automate networking tasks with Python/Ansible, and collaborate across teams to move R&D into operational deployments, including work in classified environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science required
• Active DoD Secret clearance (minimum)
• DoD 8140/8570 IAT II baseline certification (Security+ce, GSEC, or SSCP)
• Experience with SD-WAN hardware/software platforms and DoD/IC security concepts

Responsibilities

• Design and develop SD-WAN architectures for DoD/IC environments
• Research and prototype SD-WAN technologies including SASE and zero-trust
• Implement network automation using Python, Ansible, and APIs
• Deploy and test SD-WAN solutions in connected and Dark Cloud environments
• Document specifications, findings, and architecture designs
• Support deployments in classified environments
