Job summary

ISMIRA Agency actively recruiting for a Kitchen Steward on Scylla AG’s river cruise ships. You will keep the galley clean, support the culinary team, and maintain high hygiene standards onboard across Europe.

Requirements include experience in hotel or river cruise settings, strong English skills, flexibility, and a team-oriented mindset. German language is a plus. Seasonal contracts March–November with extensive onboard benefits.

Qualifications

• Excellent English skills (written & verbal).
• Non-EU nationals require visa as applicable.
• Open to working in a river cruise environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the galley per HACCP and Scylla standards.
• Assist Head Chef with orders and inventories.
• Conduct weekly general cleaning of the workplace.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of plates, cutlery, and kitchen equipment.
• Support daily checks and temperature documentation per HACCP.

Today, the company operates more than 40 modern river ships, sailing along the Rhine, Danube, Seine, Rhône, Saône, and many other beautiful rivers across Europe.

As a Kitchen Steward, you are essential to keeping the galley running smoothly. You ensure a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment, support the culinary team with daily operations, and help maintain high hygiene standards onboard.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Responsible for dealing carefully with equipment, machines and cleaning agents.
• Adherence to cleanliness and hygienic regulations in compliance with HACCP and Scylla standards.
• Execution of weekly general cleaning at the workplace.
• Joint responsibility for the adherence to safety rules in the kitchen area.
• Responsible for cleanness of china, cutlery, glasses and kitchen equipment.
• Responsible for the proper handling and storage of plates, cutlery, glasses and kitchen equipment.
• Responsible for the cleanness of all storage rooms on a weekly base.
• Supporting the Head Chef with orders and inventories.
• Assistance in daily checks and documentation of the temperature according HACCP and company standards.

Requirements:

• Minimum experienced within the hotel industry and/ or previous river cruise ship experience as cook.
• Flexibility, stress resistant, calm under the pressure, resilient and team player with positive approach.
• Professional attitude and appearance, reliable and hard-working with great team spirit.
• Open minded and flexible with high social, interpersonal and cultural competencies.
• Excellent English skills (written & verbal), other languages as German is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently, within both the preparation and service time, guest oriented, able to run proficiently the assigned station.
• Good computer skills (Excel, Word, PPT).
• Being representative of Scylla's values.
• Age: min. 18 years old
• Non-EU nationals will need D type German visa before joining
