Job summary

Azusa Solutions is seeking a Scrum Master I to join our team of consultants in the New York City area. This on-site role supports IT systems for NYC DSS/ITS and focuses on agile project delivery, coaching teams, and ensuring alignment with business goals.

The position requires familiarity with Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, and backlog management, plus the ability to guide teams toward self-organization and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience with project management and agile development methodologies.
  • Experience with SCRUM framework and ceremonies.
  • Ability to perform functional business analysis and requirements gathering.
  • Experience planning sprint delivery and coordinating delivery timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Performs Sprint Planning and leads a multi-disciplinary team in application development and deployment.

Azusa Solutions is seeking a Scrum Master I to join our team of talented consultants. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing company comprised of highly qualified, highly impactful, and multi-talented individuals.

This position supports IT systems for the New York City Department of Social Services (DSS)/Information Technology Services (ITS). ITS serves all DSS program areas to fulfill their IT needs. To meet the business needs and ITS' workload, ITS is seeking qualified candidates in the areas of Database design, architecture, and development, including base definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, operational guidelines, and protection. Ensures accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools, such as base dictionaries. Establishes and maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management. Proposes and implements enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of various systems that ITS supports across DSS program areas.

Eligibility
  • *Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position at this time.
  • *Candidates must live within commuting distance to the five Boroughs of New York City.
  • *Candidates must be able to work on-site in or near the Brooklyn, NY area.
  • *Candidates must be prepared to provide a minimum of 2 professional references and at least one within the last 24 months
Key Responsibilities
  • Performs Sprint Planning and implementation. Leads a multi-disciplinary team in application development and deployment. Provides management reporting and information dissemination
  • Making sure everyone on the team understands the project’s goals and scope.
  • Lead planning and/or implementation of applications & participate in the design and/or testing phases.
  • Facilitate the definition of project missions, goals, tasks, and resource requirements.
  • Assist in the resolution of conflicts within and between projects or functional areas
  • Helping the product owner maintain the product backlog.
  • Facilitating Scrum events (daily standups, other meetings) as needed.
  • Develop methods to monitor project or area progress; and provide corrective supervision if necessary
  • Prioritize and organize the user stories into weekly sprints and conduct daily Scrums to track progress
  • Provide weekly status to the PMO and all relevant stakeholders.
  • Serves the development team by: Coaching the development team in self-organization. Helping to remove obstacles to the developers’ progress
  • Serves the entire organization by: Encouraging the organization to adopt the Scrum and Agile development methodologies in their workflow. Coaching the organization on the transition to a Scrum working framework. Keeping the organization, particularly the project’s stakeholders, up to date on the progress of the scrum team’s projects.
