Steampunk, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Scrum Master to lead an Agile software development team on a high-priority client project in the McLean area.

You will facilitate ceremonies, coach the team, and protect delivery timelines while collaborating with product owners and stakeholders to maximize value. Candidates should have 4+ years in Scrum/Kanban, CS M and SAFe certifications, and experience guiding teams through user stories, risk mitigation, and delivery planning.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate daily standups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Identify, track, and mitigate delivery risks and blockers
  • Coach teams on agile practices and mindset
  • Collaborate with Product Owner and stakeholders to plan and prioritize work
  • Shield the team from external disruption and ensure predictable delivery
  • Help teams write user stories and break down work into achievable increments
  • Communicate progress, risks, and issues to clients and leadership
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration

Job description

As a Steampunk Scrum Master, you’ll be asked to serve as the Scrum Master on an Agile software development team.

Contributions
  • A Scrum Master must have experience managing Agile/Information Technology related projects and must be well versed in software development life cycle and project management methodologies.
  • Scrum Master will oversee scrum team for key high-priority project for the client.
  • Must be able to identify and mitigate risks. We are looking for a Scrum Master with excellent communication skills who can work with key stakeholders/customers to support planning and delivery of technical IT development Agile projects.
  • Scrum Master will help define project scope and schedule while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value; prepare and distribute progress reports; manage risks and issues; correct deviations from plans; and perform delivery planning for assigned projects.
  • Scrum Master will assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work; leveraging organizational resources to improve capacity for project work; and mentoring and developing team members.
  • Scrum Master will support managing customer expectations for project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and help to implement an effective system of project governance.
  • Primary focus is making sure the teams are effective and focused on their work.
  • Coaches the teams in their understanding of the delivery process, the agile mindset, and client values.
  • Helps the team use their time wisely and avoid distractions.
  • Makes sure team issues are escalated, worked, and resolved.
  • Apply different techniques to facilitate meetings and workshops, create a shared understanding with stakeholders, and engage team-members to produce product and portfolio roadmaps.
Qualifications
  • Authorized to work for any U.S. employer
  • 4+ years of experience with Scrum/Kanban Methodologies
  • 4+ years of experience serving as the Product Owner or Scrum Master
  • Must have CSM and SAFe certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, MIS or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Ability to establish immediate credibility with clients, build consensus, and achieve goals through influence
  • Ability to help teams write user stories/epics, identify dependencies, and design optimal solutions
  • Flexibility to work with teams, individuals and executives and willingness to help with a wide variety of work products and people
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
  • Experience working in a studio / human centered design approach
  • DOD Tier 3 clearance preferred

Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $100,000 to $150,000. The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
