Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Scrum Master to guide an Agile software team supporting missile defense programs within the Defense Sensors portfolio. You will coach teams on SAFe, facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, and help translate epics and backlog items into actionable tasks for developers.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Product Owners, strong coaching and communication, and ensuring impediments are removed to keep program progress on track.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 4–8 years of relevant experience or Master’s with 2–6 years of relevant experience.
• SAFe and Agile Scrum expertise required.
• Able to communicate across all levels of the program.
• Strong knowledge of Agile Scrum andKanban.
• Experience in Missile Defense or DoD programs.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to maintain an active Secret clearance.
• On-site work in North Alabama area.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate all team level events (PI Planning, Sprint Planning, Daily Stand Up, Feature Elaboration, Sprint Review & Retro).
• Provide timely reporting of impediments, blockers, and risks to the Release Train Engineer.
• Collaborate with Release Train Engineer to set performance and growth targets.
• Mentor and develop agile team members.
• Participate in Scrum of Scrums, Inspect and Adapt, and ad hoc sessions.
• Coordinate cross-team collaboration and dependencies and report to the RTE.
• Ensure transparency of teamwork, progress, and artifacts to stakeholders.

Leidos' Defense Sensors organization is seeking a Scrum Master to join our team supporting missile defense projects within the BMD Simulations and Analysis Portfolio.

In this role, the successful candidate will guide and coach an Agile software development team in applying Agile principles and best practices. Responsibilities include facilitating key Scrum events such as daily standups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, while proactively identifying and removing impediments that may impact team progress.

The Scrum Master will also collaborate closely with Product Owners to translate epics, user stories, and other backlog items into clear, actionable tasks for software developers, helping the team effectively plan, prioritize, and execute work throughout each sprint.

The ideal candidate will possess strong coaching, communication, and problem-solving skills and thrive in a collaborative team environment. The successful candidate should also can build and maintain strong working relationships with peers, Product Owners, software developers, and other technical staff across the program.

Primary Responsibilities

• Facilitate all team level events (PI Planning Team Breakouts, Sprint Planning, Daily Stand Up, Feature Elaboration, Sprint Review & Retro)

• Work with Release Train Engineer to set performance and growth targets for their teams
• Guides mentoring and development of agile team members
• Participate in Scrum of Scrums, Inspect and Adapt, and any ad hoc sessions called by RTE or Agile Coach
• Responsible for coordinating cross-team collaboration and dependencies and reporting them to the RTE
• Ensures teamwork, progress, and artifacts are transparent to all designated stakeholders

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 4-8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience
• Familiar with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
• Able to effectively communicate across all levels of the program
• Strong knowledge of Agile Scrum workflow and Kanban
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Ability to lead and facilitate all Agile ceremonies
• Relevant DoD and/or Industry work experience in Missile Defense
• Must be a US citizen possess and be able to maintain an active Secret clearance
• Full-time onsite support
• Must be a resident of the North Alabama area

Preferred Qualifications

• SAFe Scrum Master certification
• Jira - issue tracking and agile project management, or similar tool
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams
• Familiar with Agile project tools Verison1/Agility

Pay Range: $87,100.00 - $157,450.00
