Aquent is partnering with a leading financial industry innovator to hire an experienced Scrum Master in Austin, TX. You will lead multiple dynamic teams, drive agile excellence, and ensure delivery of high-quality software critical to core financial systems.

You will coach teams, manage milestones, and coordinate with Product Owners and stakeholders to keep initiatives on track while embracing continuous improvement and best practices in agile delivery.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience as a Certified Scrum Master.
  • Proficient with Atlassian Jira and Confluence for maintaining Scrum Boards.
  • Experience with agile software development in large-scale, technically complex projects.
  • Strong communication, organizational and coaching skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate all Scrum ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, release planning).
  • Champion agile software development practices across teams and stakeholders.
  • Interface between development teams, Product Owners and management to ensure alignment and on-time delivery.
  • Identify and manage dependencies, risks, and impediments with mitigation plans.
  • Monitor team velocity, sprint progress and release status; maintain process documentation.
  • Provide clear updates and escalations on business impact to stakeholders.
  • Foster self-organization and continuous improvement for releasable increments.
  • Coach teams to commit, resolve conflicts, and stay focused on sprint goals.
  • Leverage Scrum tools and frameworks to synchronize deliverables for releases.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and release planning, ensuring efficient and productive sessions.
  • Champion agile software development practices, influencing team members and stakeholders to embrace and adhere to methodologies.
  • Act as a vital interface between the development teams, Product Owners, and key stakeholders across project management, business, and quality assurance to ensure alignment and successful, on-time, and within-budget project delivery.
  • Proactively identify and manage project dependencies, risks, and impediments, establishing mitigation plans to keep projects on track.
  • Monitor and communicate team velocity, sprint progress, and release status, maintaining comprehensive process documentation.
  • Provide clear, concise updates and escalations, highlighting business impacts to relevant parties.
  • Empower teams to self-organize, fostering an environment of continuous improvement and ensuring that each increment of functionality is potentially releasable.
  • Coach and support teams in making appropriate commitments, facilitating conflict resolution, and protecting them from distractions to achieve sprint goals.
  • Leverage various scrum tools and frameworks to enhance team efficiency and coordination, ensuring synchronized deliverables for successful product releases.
What You'll Bring
  • 8+ years of experience as a Certified Scrum Master.
  • Demonstrated expertise in utilizing Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence) for maintaining Scrum Boards, including feature breakdown into Epics, User Stories, Tasks, and Subtasks.
  • Thorough understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures, coupled with a deep grasp of the software development life cycle.
  • Proven experience working with agile methodologies on large-scale, technically complex projects.
  • Exceptional communication (written and verbal), organizational, and time management skills, with a strong ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
  • Highly adaptable to changing environments, self-motivated, and creative in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems.
  • Ability to coach teams to their highest potential, hold members accountable, set clear performance standards, and resolve issues to keep teams engaged and on task.
  • Collaborative mindset, capable of driving decisions and managing multiple projects and deadlines concurrently.
  • Experience working in the financial industry with a foundational understanding of basic financial concepts.
  • Proficiency in translating business requirements into technical requirements using Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).
