Job summary

Net2Source is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for a White Plains Hospital position. The candidate will scrub and assist in labor and delivery procedures, maintain strict sterile technique, and support surgeons and RNs throughout surgical cases.

The role requires CST certification, BLS, and preferably Labor & Delivery experience. Overnight shifts, weekend rotation, and holidays are possible to ensure patient care continuity.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a CST program and maintain CST certification.
  • Current CST certification from a nationally accredited organization.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Experience as a Surgical Technologist preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare instruments, supplies, and equipment prior to procedures.
  • Scrub, set up, count instruments, and assist during procedures.
  • Maintain sterile technique throughout procedures.
  • Anticipate surgeon needs and provide instruments and supplies.
  • Collect and label cord gases during deliveries.
  • Assist surgeons and RNs with post-procedure care.
  • Handle and transport specimens appropriately.
  • Prepare instruments for decontamination and OR cases.

Job description

Days: Monday–Friday, alternating weekends and holidays

Guaranteed Hours: 37.5 hours/week

Pay Range: $37.6032–$56.4048/hour

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare instruments, supplies, and equipment prior to surgical procedures.
  • Scrub, set up, count instruments, and assist during surgical procedures.
  • Maintain the highest standards of sterile technique throughout procedures.
  • Anticipate the needs of surgeons and provide appropriate instruments and supplies.
  • Collect and properly label cord gases during deliveries.
  • Assist surgeons and RNs with post-procedure care.
  • Handle, identify, and transport specimens appropriately.
  • Prepare instruments and equipment for decontamination.
  • Assist with preparing and picking surgical/OR cases.
  • Check equipment and identify malfunctioning equipment appropriately.
  • Follow White Plains Hospital infection control and fire safety policies.
  • Maintain patient safety standards throughout surgical procedures.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Complete required competencies and mandatory in-services.
  • Follow applicable New York State surgical technology requirements.
  • Complete required continuing education credits under New York State law.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited Surgical Technology program and maintain current CST certification; OR
  • Completion of a military Surgical Technology program; OR
  • Qualify under applicable grandfathering provisions; OR
  • Federal government service performing duties related to surgical technology.
  • Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification from a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization, such as the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Prior Surgical Technologist experience preferred.

The ideal candidate will have strong Labor & Delivery/OB surgical experience, excellent knowledge of sterile technique, and the ability to anticipate surgeon needs during procedures. Candidates should be comfortable working overnight shifts, alternating weekends and holidays, and responding effectively in a fast-paced Labor and Delivery environment.
