Aultman Health Foundation is seeking a surgical scrub role to assist in birth center procedures under RN supervision in accordance with Ohio Nurse Practice Act. The position focuses on instrument handling, aseptic technique, and efficient OR readiness.

The role requires flexibility in shift rotations, good health, and commitment to organizational competencies and CPR where applicable. On-call requirements may apply in a high-demand birth center setting.

Responsibilities

• Handle instruments and suture material with skill.
• Apply and enforce aseptic technique.
• Set up and tear down OR rooms to maintain timeliness of the OR schedule.
• Maintain control of needles and sharps and dispose of them properly.
• Prioritize workload and manage stock supplies cost-effectively.
• Anticipate additional supplies/equipment during surgery.
• Open only necessary supplies to contain costs.
• Other duties as assigned.

The primary purpose of the position is to function in the scrub capacity during a surgical intervention in the birth center under the direct supervision of the registered nurse within the framework of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.

The primary purpose of the position is to function in the scrub capacity during a surgical intervention in the birth center under the direct supervision of the registered nurse within the framework of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.

Primary Duties

• Knowledgeable and maintains skill in the handling of instruments and suture material.
• Demonstrates by example, the application and rigid control of the principles and practices of aseptic technique.
• Setting up and tearing down OR rooms to maintain the timeliness of the OR schedule.
• Maintains strict control of needles and sharps. Disposes of them according to procedure.
• Prioritizes the work load and facilitates in maintaining stock supplies in a cost effective manner.
• Demonstrates knowledge of procedure by anticipating throughout the surgery case any additional supplies, suture and/or equipment that may be needed.
• Practice cost containment by opening only needed supplies for a surgical procedure.
• Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

• Has variable shift rotations that may include, but are not limited to varying 8 hour and 12 hour shifts covering day shift, afternoon shift and night shift.
• Stands for long periods of time.
• Breaks and lunches are coordinated with other personnel and work load activity.
• Blood and body fluid exposure
• Frequent changes in duties throughout working hours.
• Involved with personnel, patients and physicians under all circumstances/conditions, especially high stress situations.

Annual Requirements

The completion of all annual requirements is mandatory every year. These may include:
