Classification Title: Scripps Staff Scientist

Classification Minimum Requirements: Ph.D. and/or MD in an appropriate scientific discipline required. A minimum of 2 years postdoctoral experience.

Job Description: Under the PI's supervision, responsible for chemical synthesis and design of molecules intended to be studied for biological use. Requires an ability to review the literature to optimize protocols and to use lab instrumentation to validate experimental results. Must work well within project teams to understand and address problems with existing leads.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Conducting research in the design of small molecules designed to treat viral infections.
  • Compiling and analyzing data and presenting research findings at lab meetings, project team meetings, conferences, seminars, or symposia.
  • Performing group jobs such as instrument maintenance.
  • Assisting the PI in writing abstracts and/or grant proposals and performing other related duties within the scope of the position, as designated by the PI.

Expected Salary: Commensurate with experience.

Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in an appropriate scientific discipline (e.g., organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, natural products synthesis, chemical biology, etc.) required. A minimum of 2 years postdoctoral experience.

Preferred: Proficiency in lab instrumentation use and maintenance, in Chemdraw, PowerPoint, Excel, and (on occasion) Schrodinger molecular modeling software.
