The Herbert Wertheim UF Scripps Institute for Biomedical Innovation & Technology invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate. The successful candidate will conduct chemical synthesis and molecular design for biological studies under the PI's supervision.
Responsibilities include literature review, bench experiments, data analysis with NMR/HPLC/LCMS, presenting findings, and contributing to publications and grant proposals within a collaborative research team.
Postdoctoral Associate
A doctorate degree in an appropriate scientific discipline.
Under the PI’s supervision, be responsible for chemical synthesis and design of molecules intended to be studied for biological use. This requires an ability to review the literature to optimize protocols, to carry out experiments at the bench, and to use lab instrumentation (NMR, HPLC, LCMS) to validate experimental results through analysis of data. The candidate must work well in a research group setting and within project teams to share ideas and to troubleshoot research problems, such as deciding how to address limitations of existing lead molecules. The candidate will present research findings at lab meetings, project team meetings, progress reports, conferences, seminars, symposia, and assist in drafting relevant publications and grant proposals. The candidate must be proficient in standard computer skills relevant to the job, such as using Microsoft Office products, Chemdraw, and pymol viewer.
Commensurate with experience, aligned with NIH scale.
An organic or Medicinal chemistry degree is required.
This position is open until filled. Application review will begin August 14, 2026. Candidates will be asked to deliver a research seminar (a 30-45 min presentation) in person or by zoom as part of the review process and will meet in person or virtually with the PI and with members of the PI’s research group.
This position is time-limited.
