Job summary

OrthoVirginia Inc. is seeking an adaptable healthcare support professional to document patient encounters and manage data in real time within the EMR system. You will record histories, med lists, allergies, ROS, exams, and treatment plans under physician direction.

You will enter orders, referrals, imaging requests, therapies, and patient education, while assisting with admin and clinical tasks to enhance clinic efficiency and patient flow. HIPAA compliance is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or current enrollment in healthcare, science, or related field.
• Coursework in biology, anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, exercise science, health sciences, public health, or related disciplines.
• Experience using electronic medical record (EMR) systems; Epic EMR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately document patient encounters within the EMR in real time.
• Record patient histories, medications, allergies, ROS, physical findings, assessments, and plans.
• Document provider-directed diagnoses, procedures, treatments, and patient education.
• Enter provider-directed orders, referrals, imaging requests, therapies, and other services.
• Assist with administrative and clinical support tasks tofacilitate workflow and clinic efficiency.
• Coordinate and communicate with providers, staff, and admin teams.
• Adapt to physician workflows while maintaining documentation standards.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Complete required training and competency requirements.
• Perform other duties to support clinic operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Accurately document patient encounters within the electronic medical record (EMR) in real time.
• Record patient histories, medications, allergies, review of systems, physical examination findings, assessments, and treatment plans.
• Document provider-directed diagnoses, procedures, treatments, and patient education.
• Enter provider-directed orders, referrals, imaging requests, therapies, and other treatment-related services.
• Assist with administrative and clinical support tasks that facilitate provider workflow and clinic efficiency.
• Coordinate and communicate with providers, clinical staff, and administrative teams as appropriate.
• Adapt to physician-specific workflows while maintaining organizational documentation standards.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA, regulatory, and organizational policies.
• Complete required training and competency requirements necessary to perform assigned job responsibilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of clinic operations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or current enrollment in healthcare, science, or related field.
• Demonstrated interest in pursuing a healthcare-related career.
• Coursework in biology, anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, exercise science, health sciences, public health, or related disciplines.
• Previous healthcare experience such as Medical Scribe, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (MA), Athletic Training, Physical Therapy Aide, Clinical Research, Physician Shadowing, Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Experience using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred.
• Typing proficiency of 60+ words per minute preferred.

Compensation Range for this position

$16.37 - $24.55

Compensation for this role will be based on several factors, including the candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, education, skills, certifications, geography/market, and internal equity considerations.
