Job description

Screw Machine Setup Operator

Shift:2nd, (4pm-10pm)

Pay: $20/hr (Based on experience)


The Screw Machine Setup Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating multiple spindle automatic screw machines equipped with automatic indexing and feeding mechanisms. These machines will be used to machine metal bar stock based on product specifications and blueprints. The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and maintain the machines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read blueprints or job orders to determine product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and cutting instructions.
  • Position and secure specified collets, bushings, and stock pushers onto the stock feeding mechanism, and load bar stock into the system.
  • Install and adjust cams, gears, and stops to control stock and tool movements at each station.
  • Position and secure tools in toolholders.
  • Set cutting speeds, feed rates, and other parameters based on product specifications.
  • Operate machines, monitor cycles, and ensure that parts conform to specifications by inspecting the first run and sample workpieces.
  • Troubleshoot machine issues and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Load finished parts into baskets and push chip carts for unloading into the chip hopper.
