Eaton Corporation's ES GEIS CHD division is seeking a Screw Machine Operator for the 2nd shift in Syracuse, NY. The core hours are 2:30pm to 11:00pm, Monday through Friday. The hourly rate is $22.52 plus a $1.50/hour shift premium.

You will direct a group performing various machining operations, perform threading, turning, drilling, and related tasks on conventional machines, make minor tooling adjustments, inspect first pieces, and ensure safety, quality, and continuous production.

Eaton’s ES GEIS CHD division is currently seeking a Screw Machine Operator - 2nd shift.

The core hours are 2:30pm to 11:00pm Monday through Friday.

The hourly rate for this position is $22.52 + $1.50/hour shift premium per hour.

What you’ll do:

• Responsible for directing, assisting, and leading a group of employees performing various machining operations. Ensures workflow efficiency, quality standards, and adherence to safety protocols. Performs minor machine adjustments and supports production continuity.
• Perform threading, grooving, chamfering, turning, tapping, reaming, serrating, boring, facing, drilling, and similar operations on departmental conventional machines excluding hand turret.
• Produce a variety of parts from a variety of materials.
• Make minor tooling adjustments and resets to maintain specified dimensions.
• Inspect first pieces and verify machine setup before releasing to operators.
• Adhere to machine safety procedures.
• Operate Single and Multi-Spindle Drill Presses and other conventional machines.
• Load castings and bar stock to maintain continuous machine operation.
• Wash and pack plated parts to support machine cycles.
• Use measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, verniers, scales) to verify part accuracy.
• Detect and report faulty operations or materials.
• Operate fork truck and hand trucks to move materials.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Perform TPM activities including cleaning, inspection, lubrication, and tightening of bolts.
• Perform base clean outs as needed.

Qualifications:

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

• A minimum of one (1) year of experience in machining operations.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.

Position Criteria:

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
• Proficient in using measuring instruments and maintaining tolerances.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Exposure to manufacturing environment including noise, dust, and temperature variations.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
