We are seeking an experienced Screw Machine Manufacturing Engineer to serve as the technical expert for multi-spindle automatic screw machine operations. This role will lead the development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes while driving improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive hands-on experience with Davenport multi-spindle automatic screw machines and a track record of successfully improving manufacturing operations in a precision machining environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
- Design tooling layouts, machine setups, tooling sequences, and process flows.
- Establish optimal cutting speeds, feeds, tooling geometry, cycle times, and machining sequences.
- Perform and support complex machine setups and production launches.
- Optimize machine performance to improve throughput, quality, and equipment utilization.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, and process-related challenges.
- Develop setup documentation, process instructions, and manufacturing standards.
- Lead initiatives focused on reducing scrap, downtime, setup times, tooling costs, and cycle times.
- Support root cause investigations, corrective actions, and quality improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, Tooling, Maintenance, and Engineering teams.
- Participate in continuous improvement, Kaizen, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Support customer audits, visits, and new product launches.
- Promote safe manufacturing practices and maintain compliance with safety procedures.
Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with Davenport multi-spindle automatic screw machines (REQUIRED).
- Strong experience in screw machine setup, operation, process development, and troubleshooting.
- In-depth knowledge of tooling, cams, gears, machine timing, feeds, speeds, and machining processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and customer specifications.
- Strong process improvement and problem-solving skills.
- Experience grinding and setting form tools, shave tools, drills, cutoffs, and related tooling.
- Solid understanding of shop mathematics, including decimals, fractions, and metric conversions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with additional multi-spindle machining platforms.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or Continuous Improvement experience.
