Seeking a dedicated Screenwriter to develop and refine the script for an upcoming independent sci‑fi short film. We're looking for someone who can craft compelling dialogue and build a unique world within a tight narrative. The project is a character‑driven sci‑fi drama with a contemplative, slightly melancholic tone, exploring themes of memory and connection in a near‑future New York. This isn't a VFX-heavy action piece, but rather focuses on intimate human stories against a speculative backdrop. Your key responsibility will be to take our existing beat sheet and character outlines, develop a full screenplay, and then work through a few rounds of revisions based on feedback. We're open to all experience levels; your voice and ability to tell a story are what matter most. A portfolio or writing samples (short stories, scripts, even creative essays) are essential for us to get a sense of your style. This is a deferred compensation project, offering points in the film's backend. We anticipate about 3-4 weeks of focused writing and revision work, starting immediately. Communication will primarily be remote, with occasional in‑person meetings in NYC if convenient. We're aiming to shoot the last week of November 2026.
