Job summary

The Oaks at Byron Center in Byron Center, MI is seeking a dedicated Cook to prepare and serve high-quality meals for residents, ensuring safety and sanitation standards while delivering a positive dining experience.

You will work with the Food Service Manager on inventory, stock management, and supporting dietary staff; you will also help set up service stations and maintain clean work areas to support resident well-being.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years similar cooking experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED/HSE preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare fresh scratch-made meals for residents according to planned menus and dietary guidelines.
• Assist the Food Service Manager with inventory control and ordering supplies.
• Properly store food and kitchen supplies to maintain freshness and prevent waste.
• Supervise and support Dietary staff when the Food Service Manager is unavailable.
• Set up breakfast bars, steam tables, and other meal service stations.
• Maintain cleanliness in work areas and complete kitchen cleaning tasks.
• Prepare and stock snacks and pantry items for resident areas.
• Utilize technology and computerized systems to create a great dining experience for residents and families.
