Job summary

Giant Eagle, Inc. in Ohio is seeking a Bakery Team Member to ensure our bakery products look and taste amazing while delivering excellent guest service.

You will join a team focused on understanding and exceeding guest needs, with primary duties including preparing, baking, and stocking fresh products for display. The role requires 6–12 months of related experience or completion of the Giant Eagle Apprenticeship program, and no high school diploma is required.

Qualifications

• Experience required: 6 to 12 months experience or completion of Giant Eagle Apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

• Perform bench work according to scratch procedures when necessary.
• Prepare product and form product to specifications per scratch recipes.
• Bake prepared product following recipe-determined time and temperature.
• Prepare Bakery products according to established recipes including scratch recipes.
• Insert products into proof box, set controls, and close door to ensure proper size and shape.
• Prepare and fry donuts according to established procedures.
• Insert and retrieve products from the freezer to preserve freshness.
• Answer questions and resolve guest inquiries to meet needs.
• Demonstrate suggestive selling and provide active sampling when appropriate.
• Provide exemplary customer service by helping customers locate products.
• Maintain safety as a top priority for team members, guests, and products.
• Bake scratch and prepared products for display, rotate products and follow code dating.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas to meet safety and sanitation standards.
• Accurately record special orders to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Follow safety and sanitation methods, emergency procedures, clean-ups, steritech, and housekeeping.
• Understand ingredients and purposes of each used in scratch baked goods.
• Assist in maintaining Bakery backroom, cooler and freezer efficiency.
• Assemble necessary baking ingredients for operation including scratch recipes.
• Assist in other areas as required.
