Ferrous Processing and Trading (FPT), a subsidiary of Cleveland-Cliffs Inc., is hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Shelbyville, TN site on day shift. The role involves processing scrap metals using various tools and equipment, including crawlers, with responsibilities across loading, sorting, and operating multiple heavy machines.

Candidates should have 1+ years of heavy equipment experience or a high school diploma, strong math skills, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma/GED or 1+ years of heavy equipment operator experience.
• Must be able to read, write, and perform basic math.
• Ability to work independently.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to safety standards and PPE use.
• Operate & maintain heavy equipment (Caterpillar, Sennebogen, Liebherr).
• Load/unload materials using magnet or grapple.
• Sort metals and remove non-conforming materials.
• Perform daily inspections and equipment maintenance.
• Interact with customers or drivers to assist them.
