Responsibilities

• Sorts scrap by size and appearance and places in containers.
• Sets up, operates and adjusts radiograph or portable hand torch to cut over-sized scrap.
• Calibrates portable optical spectrometer to identify grade identity.
• Operates wheelabrator.
• Operates shear and degreaser.
• Starts and stops crushing circuit equipment and changes screens as necessary.
• Loads scrap in reactors and unloads using tilters; clamps and unclamps lids, pumps down and leak checks reactors.
• Operates material handling equipment to transport scrap between storage and processing areas.
• Weighs and identifies scrap material; records pertinent information.
• Operates concrete mixer to process scrap fines and turnings.
• Uses pneumatic and hydraulic tools to break up scrap as required.
• Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.
• Performs minor maintenance and assists with major maintenance and repairs.
