Precision Castparts Corp. in Henderson, NV is seeking an industrial scrap processing operator to sort, identify, and move scrap material using a range of equipment including radiographs, spectrometers, wheelabrators, and crushers.

Responsibilities include operating and calibrating equipment, maintaining a clean work area, and assisting with maintenance. The role requires adherence to safety and export control regulations where applicable, with on-site work at PCC’s Henderson facility.

• Operates concrete mixer to process scrap fines and turnings.
• Uses pneumatic and hydraulic tools to break up scrap as required.
• Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.
• Performs minor maintenance and assists with major maintenance and repairs.

Tools and Equipment

Degreasers, crushers, pulverizers, shear, portable spectrometer, screens, magnetic separators, wheelabrator, drying equipment, concrete mixer, flame cutting torch, radiagraph, containers such as tote bins, drums, cans, etc.; hand tools, material handling equipment such as fork trucks, worksavers, floor-operated overhead cranes, hoist, reactor trailers, reactors and lids, stokes, gauges, tilter, scales, vacuum pumps, pneumatic tools, etc.

Working procedure

• Sorts scrap by size and appearance and places in containers.
• Sets up, operates and adjusts radiagraph or portable hand torch to cut over-sized scrap.
• Sets up and calibrates portable optical spectrometer. Operates spectrometer to provide grade confirmation and grade identity (identify unknown scrap).
• Operates wheelabrator.
• Operates shear and degreaser.
• Operates controls to start and stop crushing circuit equipment, adjusts equipment and changes screens as necessary.
• Loads scrap in reactors and unloads by use of tilters. Clamps and unclamps lids on reactors, pumps down reactors and leak checks reactors.
• Operates material handling equipment, such as cranes, worksavers, fork trucks, reactor trailer, hoists to handle material and transports scrap between storing and processing areas.
• Weighs and identifies scrap material. Records pertinent information required.
• Operates concrete mixer to process scrap fines and turnings.
• Operates pneumatic and hydraulic tools to break up compacts, stubs and other scrap as required.
• Keeps equipment and working area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Makes minor maintenance and repairs to equipment and assists maintenance employees in major maintenance and repairs.
