Job summary

Gerdau Ameristeel Corp. is seeking an experienced Scrap Operation Superintendent at the Midlothian Mill to direct shredder, scrap yard, and rail car dismantling operations. The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and meeting production goals with a strong leadership presence.

The incumbent will develop procedures, manage capital expenditures, and collaborate with the Melt Shop and corporate Raw Materials teams to secure optimal scrap sources and cost performance.

Qualifications

• 10–12 years of scrap yard and automobile shredder operations experience.
• 4-year technical and/or business management degree preferred.
• Proven leadership in scrap processing and meeting production goals.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the shredder, scrap yard and rail car dismantling operations.
• Develop standard operating procedures for shredder and scrap yard operations.
• Coordinate with Melt Shop Superintendent and corporate raw materials procurement.
• Ensure environmental permits, safety, and cost controls are maintained.
• Assist in scheduling, budgeting, and inventory management for scrap operations.
