Job summary

Gerdau Midlothian Mill seeks a Scrap Operation Superintendent to direct the shredder, scrap yard, and rail car dismantling operations. You will develop SOPs, coordinate scrap procurement, and maintain compliance with environmental permits.

The role requires leadership of diverse teams, coordination with Melt Shop and corporate Raw Materials, and a focus on safety, quality, and cost control to meet production goals.

Qualifications

• 10-12 years experience with scrap yard and automobile shredder operations
• ASTM standards knowledge for carbon steel grades
• Proven leadership in scrap processing

Responsibilities

• Oversee shredder, scrap yard, and rail car dismantling operations and related equipment.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures for scrap operations.
• Coordinate procurement of car bodies and shredder feed from local scrap dealers.
• Ensure environmental permit compliance and safety standards are met.
• Manage HR, accounting, and quality activities for scrap operations.
• Collaborate with Melt Shop, corporate procurement, and other departments to meet production and cost goals.
