Job summary

The Sims Metal facility in New Jersey is seeking an Inspector to inspect, identify, grade, and purchase ferrous and non-ferrous materials received at the facility to ensure compliance with company specifications, quality standards, and applicable regulations. You will support safe operations and maintain accurate records.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, 0-3 months of related experience, basic computer skills, and the ability to read and communicate in English; bilinguals a plus but

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 0–3 months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
• Examine incoming customer materials to identify and classify ferrous and non-ferrous commodities.
• Determine the appropriate commodity grade and purchase classification for materials received.
• Inspect materials to ensure compliance with company specifications, quality standards, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
• Verify that materials meet shipping and processing standards.
• Use computer systems and kiosks to accurately process and record material purchases.
• Mark materials as approved or rejected based on inspection results and document findings as required.
• Maintain accurate inspection and purchasing records.
• Provide excellent customer service when interacting with suppliers and customers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
