Safety and Responsibilities:

Safety is the top priority at Nucor. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

• Follow company and OSHA safety procedures. Attend safety meetings and participate in safety programs.
• Weighing and purchasing inbound scrap, obtaining required information from customers, completing purchasing and shipping documents, and daily reconciliation of transactions.
• Follow all legal requirements regarding material purchasing.
• Communicate pricing information and material specifications effectively with customers and management.
• Maintain good customer relations by acting courteously, safely, and professionally.
• Coordinate with employees to prevent duplication of purchases.
• Inspect materials for non-acceptable items and ensure proper classification of metals purchased.
• Manage yard traffic and direct customers for unloading.
• Willingness to cross-train and assist other employees as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by your manager.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of customer service experience, preferably in scrap metal or construction industries.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong organizational skills, dependability, and work ethic.
• Ability to work standing or walking for up to 12 hours per day.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and in-house systems.
• Dependable attendance and flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays in various weather conditions.
• Candidates within 50 miles preferred.
