Position Summary

The position reports directly to the Hockey Program Manager. Responsibilities include scorekeeping during hockey league games, operating the scoreboard, tracking goals, shots, and penalties on paper or online scoresheets, and using a supplied tablet to play music during stoppages and between games. The role also involves assisting the ice resurfacing team by moving nets after each game. Arena attendants will monitor and assist customers, ensure a safe skating environment, issue skates, and advise on proper fit/size. This position requires interaction with parents, players, guests, coaches, referees, hockey directors, and team captains, with a focus on delivering a world-class hockey and skating experience.

This role pays an hourly wage of $15-17.

Responsibilities

1. Operate control board for scoreboard
2. Communicate with on-ice officials to start, operate, and record hockey games
3. Maintain clear, accurate, and legible scoresheets
4. Provide accurate statistics to league statisticians
5. Check players in by number and/or name on the scoresheet
6. Assist ice resurfacing team by moving nets after each game
7. Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of the area
8. Interact positively with all departments: referees, players, coworkers, and guests
9. Safeguard company property, access, and assets
10. Monitor and assist skating customers
11. Serve as first point of contact in case of injury
12. Assist customers with skate fitting and lacing techniques
13. Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays
• Must be at least 16 years old
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to skate is recommended but not required (for arena attendant shifts)
• Self-motivated and able to work independently
• Willing to serve as an off-ice official for hockey games
• Basic knowledge of hockey
• Good judgment and interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Reliable, diligent, and detail-oriented
• Comfortable using a phone or tablet to play music and enter scoresheets
