Job summary

Job Description

Aegis is seeking a Scientist to join our client's organization for a 3-6 month project. The ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related science field.
  2. PhD in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or Biochemistry — recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  3. Master's Degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or Biochemistry with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  4. At least 3 years of experience working in molecular biology.
  5. 3+ years of laboratory experience.
  6. Strain engineering experience—modification of microbial strains (bacteria, yeast, fungi) for research, industrial, agricultural, or pharmaceutical purposes.
  7. RNA sequencing experience—RNA extraction, library preparation, sequencing, data analysis, and visualization.
  8. Experience designing and executing molecular biology experiments to modify fungal genomes, including gene knockouts, knock-ins, overexpression, and gene editing.
  9. RT-PCR experience—technique to amplify and detect RNA sequences by converting RNA into cDNA and amplifying specific regions (qualitative results).
  10. Quantitative PCR (qPCR)—technique to amplify and quantify targeted DNA or RNA molecules.
  11. Proven expertise in fungal transformation, gene editing, and metabolic engineering.
  12. Documentation experience—maintaining detailed and accurate records of experiments, data, and outcomes.
  13. Reporting experience—preparing internal reports and presentations for team meetings and external communications.

  • Experience working in a yeast lab setting.
