Kano Therapeutics, a biotech startup focused on DNA nanotechnology, seeks a Scientist/Senior Scientist, Process Development - Microbiology. You will lead design and scale-up of bacterial fermentation and downstream processing for therapeutic products, transitioning from research batches to clinical-grade production.
You will drive in-line QC assays, develop process safety plans, and build scalable manufacturing workflows, with emphasis on upstream/downstream integration and cost/quality metrics.
Kano Therapeutics harnesses the power of DNA nanotechnology and synthetic biology to design and engineer novel gene vectors. Our goal is to expand the reach of genome-editing-based therapies through the development of transformational biomaterials. Instead of innovating around the messenger (gene delivery systems, gene editing tools), we start by innovating around the message - the DNA vector that carries the genetic information.
This is an excellent opportunity if you are excited about taking on a technical role in an early-stage startup and using cutting-edge science to expand the reach of gene editing technologies. As a key early hire at Kano Therapeutics, you will take on an essential role in design and implementation of the company’s bioengineering process, ensuring that functionality, cost, quality, and performance metrics are met. You will implement the latest scientific, engineering, and manufacturing innovations and own the process of scaling product development from research batch production to clinical-grade at scale. You are the right candidate if you have a passion for early-stage startup culture and are ready to be a defining team member. In this role, you will be leading the transition from batch to continuous reactions/production as well as scale-up operations. You will develop a decision framework to identify optimal process steps and will be responsible for process design decisions.
Kano seeks an extraordinary bioprocessing engineer for the development of transformational single- stranded genetic vectors. The right person will have a consistent track record of working in new product development, process development, project management, and a broad technical understanding of biological engineering, ideally plasmid manufacturing or bacteriophage production.
