RESPONSIBILITIES

• Protein Structure Determination: Lead or support structural studies of therapeutic targets using X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM). Tasks include construct design, protein expression, purification, and crystallization or cryo-EM sample preparation.
• Protein Production: Design and optimize expression constructs using E. coli, insect, or mammalian systems for recombinant protein expression. Develop and refine purification strategies using affinity, ion exchange, and size-exclusion chromatography.
• Biophysics: Perform and interpret biophysical and biochemical assays (e.g., SPR, ITC, DSF, MST, FP, and TR-FRET) to elucidate MOA of small molecules, peptides, and biologics. Characterize protein-ligand, protein-protein, or protein-nucleic acid interactions and determine thermodynamics and kinetics of binding.
• Structural Analysis and Modeling: Utilize software for structure refinement and analysis (e.g., CCP4, CryoSPARC, RELION, Chimera, Coot, PyMOL).
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Contribute scientific insights into target ideas and assay development by working closely with different functional teams.
• Communication: Prepare internal reports, provide timely communication and presentations for team meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ph.D. in Structural Biology, Biophysics, Biochemistry, or related field; or M.S. with extensive experience in structural biology and protein science in an academic or industry setting.
• Proven track record in solving protein structures via X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-EM.
• Hands-on experience in construct design, recombinant protein expression, and purification of challenging proteins (e.g., membrane proteins, complexes).
• Proficiency in biophysical assay development and interpretation is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with computational tools for structure analysis, homology modeling, and protein engineering is a plus.
• Experience with ligand soaking, co-crystallization, or cryo-EM of protein-ligand complexes.
• Experience in biophysical techniques such as SPR, ITC, TR-FRET, FP, MST, or LC-MS is preferred.
• Experience in computational chemistry and peptide design is preferred.
• Deep understanding of protein folding, stability, and conformational dynamics.
• Traits such as strong bench presence, attention to details, ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, good time-management and communication skills, and strong organizational skills are essential
• Effective communicator and collaborative team member, with an aptitude for solving scientific challenges in a fast-paced environment.
