The Sylvester Myeloma Institute is developing iStopMM–Miami: From Population Screening to Precision Interception, a collaborative program that builds upon the landmark iStopMM population-screening study in Iceland. Whereas iStopMM is designed to determine whether screening for myeloma precursor disease provides clinical benefit, iStopMM–Miami will investigate the biological patterns that distinguish stable precursor disease from progression to multiple myeloma. Conducted within Miami’s international population, the program will integrate longitudinal clinical data and biospecimens with advanced molecular, immune, imaging, and computational analyses. It will also include interventional studies intended to translate improved risk prediction into individualized strategies for prevention and early treatment. To support this initiative, we are recruiting a physician-scientist with expertise in population screening, myeloma precursor disease, and longitudinal clinical research. The successful candidate will help design and launch the iStopMM–Miami screening and follow-up program, develop collaborative translational studies, and connect biological discoveries with precision-interception trials. Experience with the Icelandic iStopMM study (or equivalent) would be particularly valuable, providing scientific continuity and facilitating a closely integrated international collaboration. This position offers an opportunity to help establish a major screening, prevention, and early-intervention platform at the Sylvester Myeloma Institute and to shape the next generation of research aimed at preventing progression to clinical multiple myeloma. This is a 100% research-based position without clinical responsibilities/clinical care. We are seeking to hire an MD/PhD with experience in precursor screening studies, with specialist training in hematologic malignancies, and with particular focus on multiple myeloma and its precursor disease. The 1-year position will be 100% gift-funded and will report to Dr. C.
