Qualifications

• Expertise in quantitative mass spectrometry on triple quadrupole (QQQ) platforms and HRMS.
• Automation and/or micro-sampling in bioanalysis workflows.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and document quantitative LC-MS/MS bioanalytical experiments.
• Develop and implement fit-for-purpose bioanalytical methods with rapid turnaround.
• Perform bioanalysis in matrices including plasma, urine, CSF, and tissues.
• Prepare samples using precipitation, SPE, affinity capture, and related methods.
• Analyze and present bioanalytical data with emphasis on data integrity.
• Maintain documentation in ELNs and compliant systems.
• Ensure data meets regulatory requirements for global submissions.
• Author and review study reports, methods, SOPs, memos, and regulatory documents.
• Communicate results to discovery and development teams; contribute to publications.
• Support report quality control and cross-functional communication.
• Follow safety and site procedures; perform routine lab housekeeping.

Scientist - LC-MS Bioanalytical

What you will do

This lab-based role supports the design, development, validation, and implementation of robust LC-MS/MS bioanalytical methods for therapeutic modalities including small molecules, oligonucleotides, proteins, and other complex molecular entities. The initial focus is to expand discovery-stage support within PKDM-BA, while maintaining flexibility to support GLP preclinical and regulated clinical activities as needed. The role will also contribute to modernization of automation and instrumentation to improve assay throughput and sensitivity, working closely with multidisciplinary research and development teams across Amgen.

Key responsibilities include:

• Plan, execute, and document quantitative LC-MS/MS bioanalytical experiments.
• Develop and implement fit-for-purpose bioanalytical methods with rapid turnaround.
• Perform small- and large-molecule bioanalysis in nonclinical and clinical matrices, including plasma, urine, CSF, and tissues.
• Prepare biological samples using protein precipitation, solid-phase extraction, liquid-liquid extraction, affinity capture, and related techniques.
• Organize, analyze, interpret, and present bioanalytical data with strong attention to data integrity and fidelity.
• Maintain complete, accurate, and concise documentation in electronic laboratory notebooks and other laboratory systems.
• Ensure data and records meet applicable regulatory expectations for global submissions and remain current with relevant industry guidance.
• Author and review study reports, analytical methods, SOPs, technical memos, and other regulatory-compliant documents.
• Communicate bioanalytical results to discovery and development teams; contribute to publications and present findings at scientific meetings.
• Support report quality control, effective time management, and clear cross-functional communication.
• Follow all safety, training, documentation, and site-specific procedural requirements.
• Perform routine laboratory housekeeping and operational support activities as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prefer Bachelor’s or Master’s experience
• Prior experience in CRO or pharma/biotech strongly desired
• Strong technical expertise in quantitative mass spectrometry on triple quadrupole (QQQ) platforms as well as HRMS
• Experience with an array of analytical technologies that can accelerate bioanalysis inclusive of automation and/or micro-sampling
• Prior GLP and GCP experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in working with a variety of sample types (e.g., blood, plasma, serum, tissues, cerebrospinal fluid).
• Hands-on experience with automated or semi-automated sample preparation for LC-MS bioanalysis, including protein precipitation, SPE, affinity capture, and other high-throughput workflows, using platforms such as KingFisher APEX/FLEX, automated SPE systems, and robotic liquid handlers.
• Prior experience in bioanalytical (regulated) assay execution and transfer to CROs
• Must be willing to work in a fast-paced, multi-project environment with high workload demands, and consistently deliver high-quality results within established timelines.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve scientific challenges efficiently and prioritize effectively

• Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
