Job description

About Magnet Biomedicine

Magnet is a biotechnology company pioneering the discovery of oral molecular glues - small molecules that induce proximity between proteins to modulate their function. Our proprietary TrueGlue(TM) platform is designed to address hard-to-drug targets across cancer and immune-mediated diseases.

With support from ARCH Venture Partners, Newpath Partners, Taiho Ventures, and Eli Lilly, Magnet is advancing internal programs in oncology, immunology, and inflammation. Magnet has also entered into a collaboration and license agreement with Eli Lilly to discover, develop, and commercialize specific molecular glue therapeutics in oncology.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on biologist to join our team. In this position, you will play a pivotal role in designing, executing, and interpreting experiments to develop novel protein-protein interaction strategies that modulate target protein function. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of next-generation therapeutics and make a significant impact on the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.

The successful candidate will conduct phenotypic cell-based assays, enzymatic assays, and binding experiments while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists to discover and develop molecular glue therapeutics. The ideal candidate is scientifically curious, highly collaborative, and motivated to continuously expand their technical expertise while contributing to a fast-paced research environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute cellular and molecular biology experiments to support discovery programs.
  • Evaluate protein-protein interactions using approaches such asNanoBiT, NanoBRET, IP-MS, ALPHAscreen, and related technologies.
  • Experimentwith human whole blood, human biopsies and/or lentivirus (BCL2+).
  • Analyze experimental data, draw scientific conclusions, and communicateresults to project teams and company colleagues.
  • Maintainaccurate and complete experimental records within the electronic laboratory notebook (ELN).
  • Independently troubleshoot technical experimental challenges and seek input whenappropriate.
  • Collaborate closely with scientists across disciplines to solve scientific problems and advance researchobjectives.
  • Continuously expand technical expertise and adopt new methodologies to support evolving research needs.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or a related discipline with 2-8years of biotech experience; or BS/MS with 8+ years of industry experience, including biotech.
  • Hands-on experience with small-molecule binding and inhibition assays.
  • Strong experimental design, execution, and analytical skills.
  • Strong analytical mindset and familiarity with relevant statistical methods.
  • Experience working with human whole blood, humanbiopsies and/or lentivirus (BCL2+).
  • Demonstrated scientific productivity through publications, presentations, or equivalent accomplishments.
  • Proficiency with scientific data analysis and visualization software.
  • Intellectual curiosity, scientific rigor, and a positive, collegial attitude.
  • Willingness to learn new techniques and rapidly developexpertise in emerging technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on work with molecular glue therapeutics or targeted protein degradation approaches.
  • Strong working knowledge in immunologyor oncology.
  • Experienceutilizing confocal and fluorescence microscopy methodologies in drug discovery.
  • Experienceleveraging flow cytometry and cell-based screening platforms to support research and discovery efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with external CROs to achieve projectobjectives and timelines.

National salary range. Salary will be determined by many factors, including but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, location and business or organizational needs.
