Responsibilities

• Design and execute radiolabeling reactions with isotopes such as Lu-177, Ac-225, In-111, Zr-89, At-211, I-131, Pb-212.
• Perform conjugation between bifunctional chelators and biomolecules.
• Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot radiochemical syntheses for diagnostic and therapeutic use.
• Conduct QC and stability testing of radiolabeled compounds.
• Analyze data, interpret results, and communicate to cross-functional teams.
• Support in vivo studies and dosimetry analyses of radiolabeled agents.
• Prepare, review, and maintain SOPs, protocols, and study documentation.

Position Title: Scientist II, RadiopharmacologyReporting Location: Rockville, MDReports To: Head of RadiopharmacologyDUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES:Design and execute radiolabeling reactions using a range of isotopes, including Lu-177, Ac-225, In-111, Zr-89, At-211, I-131, and Pb-212.Perform conjugation reactions between bifunctional chelators and peptides, proteins, antibodies, or other biological molecules.Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot radiochemical synthesis and radiolabeling protocols for both diagnostic and therapeutic applications.Conduct quality control and stability testing of radiolabeled compounds using appropriate analytical methods.Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and communicate findings to cross-functional teams.Support the design, execution, analysis, and interpretation of in vivo studies involving radiolabeled compounds.Develop, write, review, and maintain technical documents, including methods, SOPs, protocols, work instructions, and other documentation, in adherence to the Champions quality control system.Prepare, review, and ensure compliance of study protocols, technical reports, experimental procedures, and study-related documentation.Train and mentor junior staff in radiochemistry techniques, radiopharmacology procedures, radiation safety, quality control, and the safe handling of radioactive materials.Maintain accurate, complete, and traceable laboratory records, including experimental procedures, calculations, analytical results, and instrument records.Stay current with advancements in radiochemistry, radiopharmacology, molecular imaging, targeted radionuclide therapy, and nuclear medicine.Assist in the evaluation, validation, implementation, and routine use of new laboratory equipment, automation systems, analytical tools, and technologies.Collaborate with internal scientific teams, project managers, laboratory operations, and other cross-functional groups to support successful study execution.Assist with troubleshooting radiochemistry, formulation, analytical, and study-related issues as needed.Support laboratory organization, radioactive material management, and appropriate handling and disposal of radioactive waste in accordance with established procedures.Perform additional duties as assigned, either verbally or in writing, at any time.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Expertise in radiochemistry, radiopharmacology, radiobiology, molecular imaging, and the handling of diagnostic and therapeutic radionuclides.Expertise in chromatographic and analytical techniques, including thin-layer chromatography (TLC), radio-TLC, column chromatography, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and radio-HPLC.Strong knowledge of radiolabeling chemistry, bifunctional chelators, conjugation chemistry, and radiopharmaceutical formulation.Expertise in conducting in vivo studies using radiolabeled compounds.Experience with the analysis and interpretation of in vivo data from radiolabeled compounds, including biodistribution, pharmacokinetic, imaging, and dosimetry data.Ability to troubleshoot radiochemical reactions, analytical methods, instrumentation, and experimental procedures.Knowledge of radiation safety principles and appropriate handling, storage, use, and disposal of radioactive materials.Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams.Strong scientific writing, data interpretation, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:PhD in a relevant scientific field, such as radiochemistry, chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, radiopharmaceutical sciences, or related discipline.Demonstrated expertise in radiochemistry, radiopharmacology, radiobiology, molecular imaging, and therapeutic radionuclide applications.Experience with diagnostic and therapeutic radioisotopes and the development of radiolabeled compounds.Knowledge and practical experience with radiochromatographic techniques, including radio-TLC and radio-HPLC.Experience with the analysis and interpretation of in vivo data generated from radioconjugates or radiopharmaceuticals.Experience with preclinical biodistribution, pharmacokinetic, imaging, dosimetry, or therapeutic studies is preferred.Strong computer, organizational, documentation, and multitasking skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:Must be able to sit and use hands to finger, handle and feel.Must be able to lift and move packages weighing up to 50 pounds.Must be able to sit for
