Job summary

Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Scientist II (Associate) for an onsite 12+ month contract to contribute to the development of therapeutics for retinal diseases. You will work with multidisciplinary teams and drive bench projects in a fast-paced industry setting.

The role focuses on advanced in vitro endothelial biology, assay development, and compound screening, with strong data analysis and collaboration to advance retinal targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biological Sciences.
• 5+ years of industry experience in in vitro biochemical and cell-based assay development and execution.
• Experience with cell culture (mammalian, primary, and immortalized) and cellular biology techniques.
• Experience with primary retinal endothelial cells.
• Experience developing and executing in vitro assays to support screening, validation, and optimization.

Responsibilities

• Perform highly complex in vitro assays to evaluate endothelial biology, including barrier function, transport, angiogenesis, differentiation, and specialization.
• Culture and maintain primary and immortalized cells used in in vitro assays.
• Routinely test compounds representing diverse mechanisms of action and characterize their pharmacological activity.
• Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data to project teams.
• Optimize and develop in vitro vascular integrity assays.
• Participate in team meetings and scientific discussions related to retinal disease and target discovery.
• Maintain accurate records in electronic laboratory notebooks and adhere to safe laboratory practices.
