Job summary

Tundra Technical Solutions seeks an experienced Scientist II – In Vivo Scientist to support preclinical CKD research. The role is highly hands-on, with approximately 80–85% time in the vivarium supporting study leads and senior scientists.

Responsibilities include rodent dosing, sample collection, metabolic studies, and data analysis using Excel and GraphPad Prism. Onsite work in Ridgefield, CT for a 12-month contract with weekend/holiday rotations as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related scientific discipline with 3+ years of relevant experience or Master’s degree.
• Hands-on rodent in vivo research experience with mice and/or rats.
• Experience with routine rodent dosing and sample collection.
• Familiarity with IACUC governance and compliance.
• Proficiency in Excel and GraphPad Prism.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and exploratory in vivo studies using mouse and rat models.
• Administer various dosing routes (IV, IP, PO/oral gavage, SC, IM).
• Collect samples, monitor health, and process data.
• Support surgical procedures, tissue collection, and necropsy as needed.
• Interpret results, troubleshoot, and document findings.

Scientist II – In Vivo Scientist, Chronic Kidney Disease

Ridgefield, CT | 12-Month Contract | Fully Onsite

We’re hiring a Scientist II – In Vivo Scientist to support preclinical research focused primarily on chronic kidney disease (CKD), with expanding work in cardio-renal-metabolic (CRM) models.

This is a highly hands‑on laboratory role, with approximately 80–85% of the time spent in the vivarium supporting study leads and senior scientists. The ideal candidate will have strong rodent experience and be able to contribute with minimal ramp‑up time.

What You’ll Do

• Conduct routine and exploratory in vivo studies using mouse and rat models
• Perform rodent dosing, including IV, IP, PO/oral gavage, SC, and IM routes
• Perform animal handling, health monitoring, blood collection, and sample processing
• Conduct metabolic cage studies, urine collection, necropsy, and tissue collection
• Support basic surgical procedures as needed, including animal preparation and suturing
• Interpret study results, troubleshoot issues, and recommend appropriate follow‑up
• Support study design, data analysis, and scientific documentation
• Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
• Maintain accurate records and comply with IACUC requirements, SOPs, and applicable regulations
• Contribute to protocols, procedures, and scientific reports
• Use tools such as Microsoft Excel and GraphPad Prism for data analysis and documentation
• Collaborate closely with study leads, scientists, technicians, and other cross‑functional team members
• Participate in weekend/holiday rotations as needed

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree + 3+ years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree in a related scientific discipline
• Hands‑on rodent in vivo research experience with mice and/or rats
• Experience with routine rodent dosing and sample collection
• Experience with blood collection; metabolic cage and urine collection experience is a plus
• Necropsy and tissue collection experience is a plus
• Familiarity with IACUC governance and compliance
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and GraphPad Prism
• Strong problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, matrixed research environment
• Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CRO experience highly desirable
• PhD applicants are not being considered
