Job description

Company Overview

1910 Genetics is a Series A stage biotechnology company that is pioneering a novel Input-Transform-Output (ITO) platform as the first ever horizontal AI infrastructure for drug discovery.

In a crowded space with hundreds of AI drug discovery companies, 1910's ITO platform is differentiated by:

  1. Modality agnostic drug discovery: our platform is capable of designing both small molecule and large molecule therapeutics across all disease areas, with an initial focus on neuroscience, oncology, and autoimmune diseases.
  2. Proprietary massive multimodal data, which overcomes the data scarcity problem that prevents frontier AI models from being utilized for drug discovery.
  3. Multi-AI agent systems that include a robust collection of frontier AI/ML models, each of which works in a task-oriented manner to achieve the multi-parameter optimization problem of drug discovery and development.
  4. A state-of-the-art (SOTA) fully-automated, high throughput wet laboratory in the premier Boston Seaport District for both data generation for AI model training as well as validation of the safety and efficacy of drug candidates that are outputted by our frontier AI models.
  5. An unprecedented partnership with Microsoft, which positions 1910 as the only biotech/pharma company leveraging Azure Quantum Elements, a groundbreaking, AI-driven, high performance computing (HPC) cloud architecture for advanced AI.
  6. Bespoke conversational AI chatbots that provide a customer friendly UI/UX to access our platform for specific drug discovery tasks.
  7. Being the only biotech company helping pharma companies integrate 6 core areas of AI infrastructure.

1910 Genetics is looking for an In Vitro Pharmacology Assay Scientist to design, develop and execute assays to measure the activity of small molecules on specific biological targets, such as proteins or cells. This position requires a strong background in molecular biology and biochemistry, along with experience in laboratory techniques and data analysis. The ideal candidate will have experience in small molecule discovery and characterization.

Role Responsibilities

  1. Design, develop and execute in vitro biological assays to measure the activity of small molecules on specific biological targets, such as proteins or cells.
  2. Adapt and validate assays to apply laboratory automation to test libraries of small molecules quickly, reliably and efficiently.
  3. Perform data analysis and interpretation of assay results to identify promising molecules for further development.
  4. Collaborate with cross-disciplinary scientists to refine assays to deliver program objectives.
  5. Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures and results in electronic lab notebook.
  6. Present experimental results/progress in timely manner and contribute to scientific discussion in group meetings.
  7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including AI Research and Computational Chemistry to discuss project updates as well as ensure the project milestones and timelines are met.
  8. Assist laboratory operations, including maintenance of equipment, reagent tracking and monthly inspections for safety equipment.
  9. Develop and execute standard operating procedures and best practices to enhance lab efficiency and productivity.
  10. Contribute to the preparation of scientific reports, presentations, and publications.
  11. Stay current with scientific literature and emerging technologies in the fields of large and small molecule research.

Qualifications

  1. PhD in Biology with a focus on Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, In Vitro Pharmacology, Biomedical Sciences or a related field.
  2. Postdoctoral experience or relevant industry experience in drug discovery or In Vitro Pharmacology.
  3. Strong understanding of molecular biology, biochemical, and cell-based assays and their applications in drug development.
  4. Familiarity with signal transduction pathways in relevant therapeutic areas such as Immunology & Inflammation, neuroscience, oncology, and cardiometabolic diseases.
  5. Experience in immune cell isolation and cell-line engineering and assay development.
  6. Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and data analysis skills.
  7. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced and dynamic research environment.
  8. Strong track record of research accomplishments, as evidenced by publications in scientific journals.
