Nurix Therapeutics, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Scientist I for Protein Purification & Expression to join the DEL and Protein Sciences team.

This role plans, coordinates, and executes expression of recombinant proteins in baculovirus and mammalian cell systems, and documents conditions and results in internal databases and ELNs. You will maintain insect and mammalian cell cultures, perform protein purification and characterization, and work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• This position requires 2+ years of experience working with insect cell lines and baculovirus expression of recombinant proteins.
• Additional experience with mammalian expression (e.g. HEK293) is a plus.
• Industry experience preferred with ability to overexpress milligram amounts of protein for multiple protein classes.
• Must be able to lift 50+ pounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain insect cell and mammalian cell cultures.
• Perform baculovirus-based expression and purification of recombinant proteins (clone design, bacmid purification, MOI studies, cell culture, biomass harvest).
• Characterize proteins by SDS-PAGE, chromatography, and thermal stability methods.
• Document expression conditions and results in internal databases and ELNs.

Nurix Therapeutics, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Protein Expression Scientist to join the DEL and Protein Sciences team. This individual will work cross functionally with internal stakeholders to plan, coordinate, and execute all operational activities required for analytical scale and preparative scale expression of recombinant proteins in baculovirus and mammalian cell systems. Additionally, they will be responsible for documentation of expression conditions and results in internal databases and electronic lab notebook systems.

Responsibilities

• Highly proficient in maintaining insect cell and mammalian cell cultures.
• Excellent knowledge and high degree of familiarity with all steps in baculovirus expression of recombinant proteins, including clone design, generation and purification of bacmids, raising and titering of baculovirus, conducting MOI studies, cell culture of Sf9 and/or Tni/Hi5 cells, and harvesting of biomass on the scale of 1 L – 20 L.
• Highly proficient in maintaining insect cell and mammalian cell cultures.
• Strong working knowledge of protein characterization steps, including SDS-PAGE analysis, size exclusion chromatography, and/or thermal stability (e.g. nanoDSF).

• This position requires 2+ years of experience working with insect cell lines and baculovirus expression of recombinant proteins. Additional experience working with recombinant protein expression in mammalian cells (e.g. HEK293) is a plus. Industry experience preferred with exemplified ability to overexpress milligram amounts of protein for structural and functional studies for multiple protein classes.
• Able to work in dynamic, fast-paced environment with experience prioritizing work across multiple projects.
• Detail-oriented with strong record keeping skills.
• Past experience purifying recombinant proteins (e.g. affinity chromatography, ion exchange, or size exclusion chromatography) is a bonus.
• Must be able to lift 50+ pounds comfortably.

Salary Range

125K - 151K plus bonus and equity
