Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Scientist I, Analytical Chemistry to support late-stage development of peptide drug substances. You will develop, validate, and transfer analytical methods, applying techniques such as HPLC, GC, IC and mass spectrometry, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure data quality.

The ideal candidate has a strong research background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate findings clearly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, or equivalent education with 5+ years of experience, or Master’s with 2+ years.
  • Practical knowledge of modern peptide manufacturing processes.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of various chromatographies including HPLC, GC, and IC; MS experience.
  • Understanding of cGMP and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in analytical techniques relevant to peptide development including MS, amino acid analysis, and higher-order structure studies.

Responsibilities

  • Independently plan and perform method development, validation, execution, and assessment of results.
  • Resolve and troubleshoot routine scientific and technical issues independently.
  • Evaluate new technologies to solve scientific challenges or improve capabilities.
  • Understand and execute established techniques independently.
  • Document experimental activities in electronic data systems.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in scientific software to collect, process, and report data.
  • Prepare protocols and reports and quality, safety, and regulatory documents.
  • Interact with partners outside the department with minimal oversight.
  • Present results and engage with local and global teams.
  • Adhere to corporate standards including GxP where applicable.

Job Description

For the Scientist I, Analytical Chemistryposition, we are seeking a highly motivatedcandidate withastrongscientificresearchbackground, proven technical proficiency, and ability toeffectively collaborate on cross-functional teams.Therolewill supportlate-phasedevelopment ofpeptide drug substanceassets – familiarity with peptide synthesis & associated analyticaltesting are critical to success.You shouldalsohave experiencein core analytical chemistry disciplines and common analysis techniques, as well as experiencedeveloping, validating and transferring analytical methods. Successful applicants will be able to work independently, efficiently troubleshoot technical problems, and clearly communicate findings within and across technical teams.

  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, and GxP compliance, where applicable.
Qualifications
  • BachelorsinChemistry, Chemical Biology, orequivalent education with 5+ years of experience or Master’s Degree or equivalent with 2+ years of experience.
  • Practical knowledge of modern peptide manufacturing processes.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge ofvarious chromatographies includingHPLC, GC, and IC.Experience with mass spectrometry including method optimization, data collection, and interpreting results.
  • Understanding of cGMP and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in analytical techniques relevant topeptide product development includingmass spectrometry, amino acid analysis,advanced separation techniques, andhigher-order structure studies.
  • Self-motivated, hard-working, detail-oriented individual able to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • High-quality written and oral communication skills and ability to interact effectively with interdisciplinary scientists and engineers.
  • Builds strong relationships with peers and cross functionally with partners outside of team to enable higher performance.
  • Demonstrates agility in triaging priorities, pivoting strategy when faced with change, and independently resolving bottlenecks and conflicts.
  • Highly developed ability to work as part of a team and an effective communicator.
