Job summary

ARRO Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Scientist I to support environmental projects through fieldwork, sampling, data collection, and technical documentation.

This entry-level role offers hands-on experience while working with experienced scientists, engineers, and project managers. You will gain exposure to environmental investigations, regulatory compliance, permitting, and project delivery while contributing to client and community projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a scientific field as listed.
• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and speech.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to perform environmental fieldwork.
• Valid driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting water, soil, and waste samples and conducting environmental field investigations.
• Document field observations, sites conditions, and well drilling activities.
• Conduct research and analyze laboratory and field data.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, permit applications, and other project documents.
• Maintain accurate project records, correspondence, field notes, and files.
• Support project managers, scientists, and engineers with field activities.
• Participate in client meetings and regulatory agency coordination as needed.
• Assist with maintaining client relationships and meeting schedules and budgets.
• Perform other duties to support the organization’s mission.

The Scientist I supports environmental projects through fieldwork, sampling, data collection, research, and technical documentation. This entry‑level position is a great opportunity for someone looking to build their environmental consulting experience while working alongside experienced scientists, engineers, and project managers.

The Scientist I will gain hands‑on experience with environmental investigations, regulatory compliance, permitting, and project delivery while contributing to projects that support our clients and communities.

• Assist with collecting water, soil, and waste samples and conducting environmental field investigations.
• Document field observations, including well drilling activities, soil profiles, and site conditions.
• Conduct research and assist with reviewing and analyzing laboratory and field data.
• Assist with preparing technical reports, specifications, permit applications, and other project documentation.
• Maintain accurate project records, correspondence, field notes, and files.
• Support project managers, scientists, and engineers with environmental project activities.
• Participate in client meetings and regulatory agency coordination as needed.
• Assist with maintaining strong client relationships and meeting project schedules and budgets.
• Any other duties, as necessary, to drive the vision, fulfill the mission, and uphold the values of the organization.

Required Skills/Knowledge

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related scientific field.
• Basic knowledge of scientific principles, environmental sampling, and data collection.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a project team.
• Ability and willingness to perform environmental fieldwork.
• Valid driver's license preferred.

Physical Requirements – Work Environment

• Ability to work in both office and field environments.
• Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
• Ability to wear required PPE and perform physical activities associated with environmental fieldwork.

Daily Work Location/Hours

This position may be based out of any ARRO Consulting office, with regular travel to project sites as needed. The role includes a combination of office‑based and field work based on project needs.

This is a full‑time position, generally working Monday through Friday.
