The role focuses on designing and executing ex vivo flow cytometric assays with immunophenotyping and functional readouts, including assay development, optimization and validation in a lab-driven environment.

Job description

One of our largest clients is seeking a scientific consultant to join their Clinical Cytometry group in Spring House, PA. This role will support their Oncology clinical programs by delivering fit-for-purpose flow cytometry biomarker assays and high-quality clinical data in a highly collaborative clinical research environment.

The ideal candidate will be experienced working in a lab-based environment and skilled in flow cytometry, primary cell handling, and cell-based assays. The role will focus on designing and executing robust ex vivo flow cytometric assays with immunophenotyping and functional readouts. Hands-on experience with clinical flow cytometry assay development, optimization, analytical validation and clinical sample analysis is expected.

Core responsibilities (including, but are not limited to):

• Execute multi-parameter clinical flow cytometry biomarker assays end-to-end including assay development, optimization, fit-for-purpose validation, on-time assay deployment for clinical sample testing, and downstream analysis.
• Design, develop, and perform robust ex vivo and in vitro cell-based assays that incorporate functional readouts, including activation, proliferation, cytokine production, and cytotoxicity.
• Handle and isolate primary human cells from blood and cryopreserved specimens for characterization and functional assessment.
• Monitor data quality resulting from outsourced clinical flow cytometry assays. Perform assay troubleshoot to correct errors, identify root-cause of errors and prevent re-occurrence.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Local to and able to work onsite in Spring House, PA 5 days per week over the course of a multi-year W2 contract assignment.
• Bachelors Degree with 3+ years of flow cytometry laboratory experience.
• Experience working within the pharmaceutical or biotech industries.
• Extensive hands-on experience in developing, validating, implementing and testing high-dimensional flow cytometry assays. Well-versed in the analysis of such multi-dimensional flow cytometry experiments with the appropriate instruments (BD/Waters & Cytek) and software (particularly FlowJo, OMIQ).
• Proficiency in PBMC/BMMC isolation and cryopreservation.
• Experience with primary cell culture techniques.
• Experience with managing research projects at clinical flow cytometry specialty labs/CROs including assay development, analytical validation, and assay implementation.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Masters Degree with 2+ years of flow cytometry laboratory experience.
• Experience with FACS cell sorting.
• Expertise in immune cell isolation from whole blood, tissues or tumor dissociation.
• Background in Oncology and/or Immunology is desirable, as well as the ability to understand and willingness to integrate current scientific literature into research practice.

Compensation

$85,000 to $110,000 annually. Paid on hourly basis; guaranteed 40 hours per week. Intended to be a multi-year W2 contract; opportunity for permanent conversion and/or extensions year over year. Exact compensation will vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
