The US base salary range for this position is 121-210K + benefits. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Seeking a R&D Portfolio Support Scientist/Engineer to support ARPA-H and work in our Remote office.

Are you ready to support the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) in their mission to accelerate better health outcomes for everyone by supporting complex and leading-edge R&D projects designed to arrive at high-impact solutions to society's most challenging health problems?

ECS is seeking a talented and driven R&D Portfolio Support Scientist/Engineer with a scientific/technical background to join our team in support of ARPA-H. Under the leadership of a Government ARPA-H Portfolio Lead, you will serve as a Systems, Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA)—providing assistance, support and advice to the Portfolio Lead to further the development, management, and progress of new and existing programs to meet ARPA-H’s mission to accelerate better health outcomes for everyone.

These SETA duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist, support and provide advice to the Portfolio Lead to further the development and progress of new and existing programs.
  • Conduct thorough scientific evaluation of the current R&D landscape to identify gaps in research portfolios to address critical needs that are aligned with the ARPA-H mission.
  • Monitor and track performers progress toward established metrics.
  • Read and digest complex information and develop briefings for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Create PowerPoint slides and Excel files on the fly during meetings in high-pressure environments.
  • Perform basic administrative tasks such as collecting, sorting, analyzing, and writing Internal programmatic reports/briefings on relevant topics in a health-related field.
  • Some CONUS travel is expected (~10-20%) as needed to fully support the Program and Program Manager.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Candidates should have a PhD or MD or MD/PhD degree or equivalent experience levels from industry positions.
  • Candidates must have hands-on experience in at least two of the following or related scientific fields:
    • Neurodevelopment,
    • Neurobiology,
    • Neurological surgery,
    • Cell-based regenerative medicine,
    • Tissue engineering,
    • AI development,
    • iPS cell technology, or
    • Advancing therapeutic products that are not small molecules to the clinic (including GLP/GMP).
  • Candidates should have at least four (4) years of experience that may include but not limited to research, or other relevant roles at biotechnology companies.
  • The candidate will be tasked to support the development and management of new and existing programs and have or be able to obtain a Public Trust.
  • Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills, which include proficiency with key board shortcuts and ability to create PPT slides and Excel files on the fly.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required.

Additional Experience:

  • The candidate should have strong logical and critical thinking skills and be able to critically review scientific and technical data.
  • The candidate will be expected to integrate into an existing team to support current ARPA-H efforts and be able to operate independently and in a group environment in support of technical R&D efforts.
  • Previous experience with basic and applied research and prior support to Program Managers in an R&D environment is preferred.
  • Professional curiosity, continuous drive for learning, and the ability to focus on assigned tasks are critical attributes of the ideal candidate.
  • The ideal candidate must be flexible to work outside standard business hours to meet deadlines.
